If the spirit of Bhaal is dispelled it become a regular +3 longsword. The sword may not be destroyed, and the spirit of Bhaal may not be dispelled from the sword by any other means besides a Wish. If the curse is broken by a remove curse spell the sword becomes unattuned to its previous owner and, while unattuned, behaves like a normal +3 longsword. Over time the sword will slowly corrupt the owner, perhaps over several months or even years (depending on the strength of the owner charisma), turning them to the alignment of Bhaal, neutral evil. The owner of this sword may not willingly part with it or attempt to break the curse or knowingly help others who are attempting to break the curse. The owner of the sword has disadvantage with all attack rolls made with melee weapons besides this one. When its owner is dead the sword will behave like a normal +3 longsword until another creature attunes to it. If the sword goes over three days without killing a humanoid then the spirit of Bhaal will burst forth from the sword, envelop the sword's owner, and drain their life force, killing the sword's owner. The owner must kill at least one humanoid creature with the sword every three days. Upon attunement, the spirit of Bhaal overcomes the possessor of the sword, and the rules of the curse become apparent to the owner. The sword is cursed by Bhaal, the god of murder, to make anyone who bears this sword a servant of death. Only those with extremely high perception or those highly familiar with magic can sense the swords sinister intentions. When holding the sword (but not yet attuned to it) one can feel a great power in it, but before attunement, it's magical powers are indistinguishable from any other +3 longsword. Some legends mention these features, but many legends are unclear about the appearance of the swords. The swords are all glossy black and bear the symbol of Bhaal, a skull with red rubies for eyes, on the hilt. Now hundreds of years after the end of The Second Sundering, all 13 of the Chosen of Bhall are dead and the locations of the Swords of Bhaal are unknown, yet legend has it the bearers of these swords gain great power but at a terrible price.
